SolidSync Bluetooth GPS release 1.0.4
We've had slow but steady adoption of our Bluetooth GPS solution (all 42 clients so far!), and have been pleasantly surprised: in all of 20 days we've only seen 3 crashes! Thankfully, the Android Market has a nifty little crash reporting feature which has provided explicit detail, and besides the usual culprits (NullPointerExceptions and NumberFormatExceptions) there was one usage failure on our part: starting an Activity from a Service requires Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK. We've been looking closer at Google Earth integration (using network KML) and had hoped to put off a new release until then but we opted to go 'head and get the fixes for the current bugs done immediately: look for the next couple of releases to provide direct Google Earth integration.
We're also working on a number of improvements to the infrastructure: the Android market is nice but lacks clean support for change log reporting (wouldn't it be nice to know WHAT changed BEFORE you download the update?). Expect to see more about that in the not too distant future.
P.S. If you're looking to use your Android phone as a Bluetooth GPS device, checkout SolidSync Network/Bluetooth GPS in the Google Play Store or on the web at http://solidsync.com/networkbluetooth-gps.
